I'm scared. I heard an interview with Joe the Plumber on CBS after the debates and Joe said nothing he heard from the candidates convinced him one way or another. This is just totally unacceptable. If Obama is to win this by convincing millions of voters to vote for him, don't you think he should be able to convince one person spoken directly to? I know if the candidates mentioned me I'd be damned happy, I'd be all "they mentioned me on TV!", but that's not how Joe thinks.
Joe is savvy, Joe is in touch, Joe is involved, and he's not sure which of these guys are best for his self interest. Obama MUST convince Joe that regardless of the fate of the nation, Joe's self interests will be served. Joe isn't going to decide based on the idea of 100 years of war... he's got a business to refuse to run.
If Obama can't do it, we must... we must convince Joe, and if we can't, well, there's really no point to what we do here, is there? How are we going to convince millions of voters if we can't convince just one?
The secret to understanding Joe is to understand plumbing. It has to do with pipes and water and did you know it comes from the latin word for "lead"? Romans used lead to line underground food storage containers and for pipe. Not too good of an idea it turns out, but just the kind of trivia Joe would like. Is Obama so politically tone deaf he didn't know he should use a little plumbing trivia to get to Joe? I know! How could he not? Is he just too proud? Is Obama too GOOD for plumbing trivia? Is that it? Are YOU?(!)
Alternately, Obama could have threatened Joe... or perhaps just offered Joe a job, "Joe, I know you are concerned about your income, how about if you install a new shower in my house?" and if McCain countered with an offer to let Joe install 7 showers, fine, Obama could offer to let Joe build a house of nothing but plumbing. It might be a waste but really, would it be? In order to get the White House?
I'm worried people at DailyKos don't understand the importance of Joe, that they discount Joe, don't understand the election is about Joe, and that liberals hate the name Joe.
Satisfying Joe could be as simple as providing a cheap six-pack of American Beer (pride of America), but our candidate and website just would not give it to him. For all we know, all he wanted was a Pepsi. Truly, this is a failure of our institutional learning facilities... with no one in the whole nation able to say what Joe's best interest is, even Joe.
So solve this, get Joe's vote, or you won't have me to kick around anymore. Actually, nevermind, I'm leaving anyway because it's too late, you should already have gotten Joe's vote, you should already have thought about this. Your blatant disregard for Joe's needs sickens me. Adios.
