Anyone remember this winner, "How would it affect your vote if you knew John McCain had fathered an illegitimate black child?"
That was a "push poll" from the South Carolina primary in 2000. Karl Rove's hands were all over it and it totally ripped the mast down from the McCain ship in 2000.
However, that doesn't mean that McCain's not willing to try it on his own, this time around. For details, see below...
Now, some of this is speculation, and I'm not a professional journalist by any stretch of the imagination, so if you've got any ideas of how to draw the lines that connect McCain to the most recent Zogby poll, then let me know and I'll check them out. All I know, is that I've been signed up to do Zogby Interactive polls for about two months. In that time, I've taken three polls. The most recent poll really took me by surprise.
After asking who I was voting for and how likely I was to vote (extremely likely, by the way, since I voted straight dem. today in early voting in NC), I was asked the following three questions:
1.) "How would it affect your vote if you knew Barack Obama supported giving driver's licenses to illegal immigrants?"
2.) "How would it affect your vote if you knew Barack Obama supported giving social security benefits to illegal immigrants."
3.) "How would it affect your vote if you knew Barack Obama supported partial birth abortions?"
Now, I'm no Sherlock Holmes, but it seems to me that something fishy is afoot. Now, it also could be that the ol' codger Zogby is just testing the "firmness" of self-proclaimed Obama voters by push-polling them...but I don't think so. To me, this looks like a private pollster who could make a few $$$ by pushing a poll in the battleground states.
What do you think, and who should know about this?
GOTV - Peace.
