Ok, so after promising everyone the vote would be on Friday, it turns out it wasn't, but as it also turns out, this is a good thing. Georgia has a short legislative session, and given the crush of legislation being pressed members are acting on other issues before they deal with SR 595. Part of this has to do with the fact that they've already voted on it once, part of it has to do with the fact that they think it will be a time-consuming issue to deal with, and a lot has to do with Rule committee Chair Calvin Smyre (pronounced Smeye-ree) being a real hero and keeping the legislation bottled up in committee and not letting it out for a vote.
Apparently all the pestering and bugging and phone calling on this issue is working, and House members are concluding that it's easier to just not deal with it. This is good. If the vote doesn't occur by this coming Friday, the legislation is dead for the year.

SR 595:
Based upon comments from House leadership, it looks like the first day that SR 595 may come back to the floor is Friday (Day 34). Of course, it can always come up earlier based upon inclusion in a Special Rules Calendar, but we're not expecting it due to the crush of bills that legislators will want to pass out of the House prior to the end of day 33. Please pay close attention to your e-mail in case we need you to make last minute calls and/or show up at the Capitol to lobby.
If you've already called Speaker Terry Coleman (404.656.5020), Rules Chairman Calvin Smyre (404.656.5024) and you've called and/or e- mailed your own Representative (you can e-mail by clicking here: http://capwiz.com/federationlgbt/mail/ oneclick_compose/?alertid=5151246), then write each of them a personal letter. The Speaker's address is: The Honorable Terry Coleman, 332 CAP, Atlanta, GA 30334. The address for Representative Smyre is: The Honorable Calvin Smyre, 415 CAP, Atlanta, GA 30334. For the phone number and address of your own Representative, go to www.vote-smart.org and follow the prompts asking for your zip code on the left side of the screen.
