My friends, I was on the phone with Joe the Plumber just the other day. (Yes I knew him long before this John McCain guy did) And we were talking about the Netroots Nation Auction.
Joe may not really be a plumber, his name may not really be Joe, and he may be a Republican, but the man is a smart businessman. And he looks the part, that's important. He knows a good deal when he sees it, he seizes upon good opportunities. I mean can you believe the branding he's getting for a business he doesn't even own yet? On top of that he's convinced a presidential candidate to cut taxes just for him. The. man. is. smart.
Which brings me to the auction. There are some unheard of deals to be had here, and anyone with half the sense of a plumber would jump all over them.
With the holidays right around the corner all of this jewelry is a tremendous deal. Just go get in a few bids and be done with it, skip Black Friday, Black Monday, and any other ominous sounding day the retailers have cooked up. Joe doesn't like waiting in lines, neither should you.
Now Joe may not like Barack Obama's health care plan (and don't get him started on taxes, which he doesn't like to pay anyway), but he secretly told me he doesn't like McCain's either. He says the smart money is on having lunch with Drum Major Institute Executive Director Andrea Batista Schlesinger, so you can come up with a real progressive policy. Then maybe, just maybe, you too can run for one of the highest offices in the land, Sarah Palin has after all thrown out all these "traditional" measures of necessary qualifications.
But at heart Joe is a businessman, so his recommendation is for you to either check out the stuff in this category or this one. Take home those tax services and you too might be able to create a business to take advantage of the tax proposals of either presidential candidate (or avoid them entirely!). The blog ads provide some fantastic marketing opportunities, just like Joe got. And if you're just getting started Joe recommends getting into a good college, he made it on his own without a degree but that isn't an easy path.
So my friends, ask yourselves "what would Joe do?" I imagine that he'd go make a few bids.
