The wingnuts are prognosticating that Joe the Plumber will be the October surprise that they've all been waiting for. Repeated attempts to shove ACORN and Ayers down the throats of Americans have resulted in nothing more than ... well ... ACORN and Ayers flavored vomit back in their collective faces.
I sincerely doubt, after watching the original exchange, that Joe the Plumber will do anything more than reinforce what we already believed we knew about the Obama plan.
The question (whether from a real plumber or imaginary dupe... who cares) was answered honestly. All of America heard it and it's no different than what they've heard all along. The Capital Gains cut is conveniently ignored by the wingnuts, the health care credits are ignored, the only focus is on a 3% marginal increase on a small business that fits into the 5% of small businesses that make over $250,000 a year.
Since we really don't know anything about Joe, or Sam, or whatever his name is, we don't know anything about the business he intends to buy, and we don't know if he will come out ahead or behind with Obama's plan. The wing-nut-o-sphere will, of course, claim with certainty that Joe will come out behind because that is the nature of the wing-nut beast.
The bad news is that after all the hopeless attempts to make ACORN and Ayers game-changing issues, this just looks like another desperate move by a desperate campaign and the majority of Americans are not buying it.
News flash... people are worried about 401k plans and mortgages ... they don't give a rat's-ass about Joe the imaginary Plumber... especially if he's pulling down over $250K a year.
So as far as I'm concerned, every ounce of energy spent finding out if Joe is a card-carrying union member, a Republican plant, a tax dodger, or whatever, is wasted energy.
Obama answered his question honestly. Why should we worry about that?
