Friends, several months ago we announced the formation of the Matthew 25 Network here on Daily Kos. Since that point we have rebutted James Dobson’s attacks, gone up on Christian radio in a number of swing states (not even the campaign is doing that), launched http://www.putawayfalsehood.com, ran a pro-Obama commercial during the Saddleback forum, and been a catalysts for the Pro-Life Pro-Obama movement in an effort to find the common ground that Sen. Obama spoke of during the debate.
Last Week Martin Sheen sat down with Doug Kmiec to discuss his faith, his politics, and the network. I wanted to pass along some of those clips to you all...
I also thought this clip was really great... He did a great job of bringing the issue home:
You can check out the rest of the clips here.
I also wanted to thank the Kos community for really being a big part of the force behind the network. For the first time in recent history a Democratic Presidential Candidate has a lead amongst main-line church attendees, a lead amongst Catholics, and is keeping much of the evangelical base from being enthusiastic about the Republican Candidate. In swing states the movement is even more pronounced. While we cannot claim all the success in these areas, we do now know that the kos community who came together with others to start this outreach has made a profound difference.
So, here is where we are. We have three weeks and we have a lead. The Network is in the position where every remaining dollar raised will go to Christian Radio ads. And, we want to expand those ads to North Carolina and Indiana. For Matthew 25 this is not simply about winning an election - this is about ending the days where our faith is used as weapon to divide rather than offering a light to the world. We want this to be an investment in a positive faith and politics conversation going forward. So, can you help? Can you Forward Martin Sheen’s clips to some friends who are West Wing Fans? Can you reach out to your pro-life friends about ProLifeProObama.com? And, can you contribute to our final push?
I'll be hanging around for a while to answer questions -
