Okay. I've been seeing some of these fringe food-based right-wing ridiculous attacks on Obama. Or whatever the hell they are. I just don't get it.
To be clear, I'm talking about the guy who thinks Obama will tear out the rose garden and put in a watermelon patch. I'm talking about the utterly ridiculous fake "food stamp" thing put out by some California GOPers recently.
Here's the thing. I don't get it. At all. I understand that ribs, watermelon, fried chicken, and whatever else they put on this bullshit is somehow stereotypical "black food" or whatever. Though, before yesterday, I had no idea Kool-Aid was in that category. I just don't understand why.
So I'm hoping someone can tell me, where did this stuff come from? I don't mean the right-wing being complete assholes - I assume that. I mean I would like to know where the actual stereotype comes from.
I've got a fairly crazy ethnic background. And I like to eat all these things. I would just like to have some grasp of the, and I use the word very loosely, issue.
Anyone able to help?
