So, Obama raised $150 million in September, shattering his own record for fundraising set in August. As the economic crisis deepened, more and more people dug into their pockets – 632,000 new donors - fully aware that our nation cannot afford four more years of republican rule. In the last three days I’ve started seeing ads on my TV for the first time – in NY and CT, where Obama is up by 20. I imagine these are national ads, but either way, national or local in NY/CT, it’s an indication that Obama has amassed resources so vast that he is prepared to bury mccain by investing not only in victory, but in an overwhelming victory.
Mccain finds himself in the position of the german tank commander who is trying to convey to his Generals in Germany’s high command the desperation of their situation. He explained that a U.S. supply plane was shot down, and that it contained, among the tons military supplies, cakes and pastries being sent by American families to their sons in Europe. The significance appeared lost on his superiors. The general gave them the bad news:
"Gentlemen, while we are scrounging for every barrel of oil, every last bucket of fuel, our enemies are so awash in oil they feel free to fly strudels across the atlantic."
McCain’s tank is stalling in the open fields of France, out of fuel. He is spinning his turret frantically, aware that it is only a matter of a very short time before the crosshairs fix on his immobilized death box. Obama’s tanks are on the move.
My republican friends, I beg you – get out of your tanks. That rumble underneath your stilled treads is a division of Gen. Obama’s mechanized army, rapidly closing on your position.
He is not taking prisoners.
