Today the Republican leaning Seattle Times exposed the Republican Governors Association multi million dollar ($5+ Million as of the last report) ad campaign that characterizes Washington Governor Christine Gregoire accepting Indian casino money for a "payoff" as smear.
Attack ads distort deal Gregoire rejected on casinos
In one of the most sustained attacks of the gubernatorial race, the Republican Governors Association has spent millions of dollars on ads tossing around terms like "payoff" and "quid pro quo" to accuse Gregoire of nixing the revenue-sharing casino deal because of her cozy relationship with tribes. That's a cartoonish distortion of what occurred.
Now the sleazy Republican Governors Association is pouring more millions into a new smear blaming Gregoire for some sex offenders not registering their current residences with the State. Its res erecting the old Willie Horton smear tactic.
ANY ad that tries to accuse a politician of being soft on sex offenders should set off a smear alarm in people's heads.

How Republican is the Seattle Times? On the same day the Times is condemning the smear tactics Republicans are using against Governor Christine Gregoire, the Times endorsed the same Republican those tactics are meant to promote, Dino Rossi.
