CBS reports
President Bush still has three more months on the job, but there is already talk of an important building in San Francisco bearing his name.
This is not out of the ordinary... after all, they named an airport after Ronald Reagan, a freeway after John F. Kennedy, so this latest ballot initiative is just the latest in a long line of such civic acts. Frankly, I think this is great!
Yes, my friends, I am hoping that Proposition R - a local initiative in San Francisco - passes by an overwhelming majority. If you are in San Francisco, be sure to vote YES on Prop R.
Let me explain why I think the Oceanside Water Pollution Control Plant should be renamed...
For too long, this administration has been working diligently to release toxic sludge into the environment. I'm not talking about our waterways, the air, or the land. Sure, they have done their best to increase mercury levels in fish, arsenic in the water, and depleted uranium into the air. But they have also been poisoning the political discourse. And yet, no one gives Bush an Emmy, a Grammy, or even a Tony. Forget about the Nobel Prize... he wouldn't accept it anyway. It's unAmerican.
Well I think it is unfair that Bush faces the prospect of leaving office without some lasting reminders of his legacy. I'm hoping this is just the first of many appropriate reminders.
Just because Bush leaves office in less than 100 days doesn't mean he should be expected to walk away from the mess he created. Someone has to clean it up. That is no small task. In fact, we should declare war on this poisoning. I believe we need to demonstrate we are really serious. We need to pick someone to lead this fight. We need someone who has experience slinging shit. We need someone who is neck deep in crap. We need someone who isn't afraid to get his hands dirty, even if he is in over his head.
Who better than Dubya?
While we're at it, I don't think we should stop here. What other facilities would you like to see named after Dubya?
