Not that many of you make up your minds because your local fish-wrap tells you to think a certain way, but for fun, I went to Wikipedia's tracking of 2008 POTUS newspaper endorsements[http://en.wikipedia.org/....]
John McCain's list of newspaper endorsements so far are fairly predictable (New York Post, Dallas Morning News to name a few), but so far, no major newspaper who endorsed John Kerry in 2004 has weighed in for McCain.
Conversely, Barack Obama's list of newspaper endorsements includes 18 which endorsed George W. Bush in 2004. A few of the noteworthy defections include the Chicago Tribune, Detroit Free Press, Houston Chronicle, Denver Post, and Salt Lake Tribune. Don't dismiss the Chicago Trib's change as just supporting their native son: The Chicago Tribune has never before endorsed a Democrat for President in the general election.
OK, so maybe the Yamhill County News Register doesn't have a huge subscription base, but Yamhill County, Oregon was once considered "safe GOP" territory. Not anymore.
Who is your local newspaper endorsing?
