Mike Rogers incumbent, ultra-conservative from Alabama's 3rd District said last Wednesday in Rogers: Seniority matters in Washington
"I'm going to be the biggest pain in Nancy Pelosi's Ass and I can't wait to go back!"
He doesn't have very choice words for some friends of mine either... (Segall is his challenger)
Segall trying to run from his liberal friends... Segall supported by radical left wing blog Daily Kos who has attacked Governor Palin and her family.
He said that on September 9th, and it's still on his blog.
First Bachmann, now Rogers, this McCarthyism of "liberals" has got to END! One of Rogers' tv ad ends with
Joshua Segall His Liberal Views Are Too Extreme
Rogers is blazing down the same path that Michelle Bachmann is. This crusade against liberals, is divisive and corrosive and We've had ENOUGH!
Part 1: The War On Liberals
Rogers' campaign manager Tripp Skipper said in the Montgomery Advertiser
the congressman is not worried, especially considering that he raised more than $300,000 in the third quarter. He will also have nearly $750,000 in cash on hand.
"It should come as no surprise that Joshua Segall, a favorite of liberal extremist groups, would receive the full support of the National Democrat Party," he said in a statement. "Segall has ties to the ACLU, and he (will) pay Pelosi back with his first vote in Congress."
From the Opelika and Auburn, Alabama NOW (Awesome name for a link) They have a video of Rogers.
Rogers said Segall’s "liberal" views aren’t good for major issues facing the country like renewable energy. Rogers said he wants to do more offshore drilling to ease America’s dependence on foreign oil, and fund renewable energy research and development with the revenue generated from drilling. "Drilling is not the answer, it’s the essential first step," he said.
Drilling is the answer, drilling Mike Rogers by donating $5 to Joshua Segall. New Yorkers, remember, five dollars in Alabama is like $13.50 for you. So, that's a deal! I know my five dollars could go a lot farther in AL than here in Nor California. I'll have to ask some Hollywood Elite what $5 in AL would cost on Rodeo Drive. I know it'll go far, So I'll match first 4 donations with $5 a piece. My family paternal, and my family adopted (DKos), and myself, have raised $416 in thr last 3 days, towards our ten day final push towards $1000 for Joshua Segall's campaign. So, WELL ahead of schedule. Even more important, I hope we're focusing the light on this important race, and this unique part of the world. Speaking of, here's a couple pics :D
Mike Rogers(R) Environmental record from Sourcewatch
Rogers generally votes against the environment. In September of 2005, he voted in favor of deauthorizing "critical habitat" for endangered species. Previously, in November of 2003, he voted in favor of forest thinning. Rogers has also voted against increased funding for AMTRAK.
Against AMTRAK! GRRRRR! He's also running some helariously misleading ads the type of hatemongering and fearmongering that yall know so well. Liberalphobia
Narrator: Who's behind Joshua Segall's negative campaign?

Narrator: Joshua Segall, Liberal records, Liberal values.
I'm Mike Rogers and I approve this message.
And his Social Issues record is even worse
Rogers usually votes in a socially conservative manner... He has also voted pro-life concerning both abortion and stem cell research. Also, he supported an amendment allowing prayer and other activities associated with religion in public places, including schools. In July 2006, he voted for a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage. The National Rifle Association (NRA) has labeled his voting record as pro-gun rights

And I don't like this guy's personal associations. He pals around with criminals like Tom DeLay
Rogers was a recipient of former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay's ARMPAC campaign contributions. DeLay is being prosecuted on charges of felony money laundering of campaign finances and conspiracy to launder money. To date, Rogers has not offered to return any of the $30,000 he received.
From 2005-2006 he raised$50,250 from Misc Defense
And surprise surprise, he's on the Homeland Security and Armed Services Commitee
From The Montgomery Advertiser Segall Favors Pay Equality
In 1998 Lily Ledbetter, a supervisor with top performance ratings and 19 years of employment at Goodyear Tire in Gadsden, discovered that she was making $6,000 per year less than the 15 men doing the same job. She sued Goodyear for compensation and won, but Goodyear appealed. In 2007 the Supreme Court ruled that Ledbetter had been discriminated against, but had waited too long to sue, even though for years she hadn't known about the discrimination...Rep. Miller of California quickly responded by introducing the Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act of 2007, aimed at giving victims of on-the-job discrimination more time to act. Rep. Mike Rogers of Alabama's 3rd District voted against this bill
Rogers needs to go, and Joshua Segall is the man to replace him. U.S. Rep. Artur Davis at Alabama State Univ. said in the Montgomery Advertiser
It's important that the students know who those people are -- and he made a forceful endorsement for Segall. "I've been your congressman, and I don't represent Montgomery," Davis said. "It will be nice to actually have someone down here that represents you."
As Rogers vilify's DKos, the headline for Segall on October 16th, from the Alex City Outlook Segall talks jobs, economy
"The biggest thing to me is we’re sending too many jobs overseas," he said. "I think that’s a national security issue." Segall said there is too much foreign dependence. "It’s one of the biggest issues facing the country," he said. Segall believes the reason rural Alabama towns are unable to attract industry is because of bad infrastructure.
"You’ve got to invest in your infrastructure," he said. Segall said better roads and sewer systems can help bring office parks to the state.
"We’ve got terrible infrastructure," he said. "There’s a zillion things we could do."
And on my most important issue, The Iraq War
Segall said he thinks it is time for the United States to pull troops out of Iraq. "I think we’ve done a good job over there," he said. "They’ve got plenty of money to run their country. We’ve made it as safe as we can make it."
Segall said recent polling shows him close with his opponent.
Great Minds think alike. Alpolitics noticed the comparisons between Mike Rogers and Michelle Bachmann. If we can get 500k for Michelle's opponent, we can certainly raise a couple thousand for Joshua Seagall.Mike Rogers : The Next Michele Bachman? (AL-03)
Final point: Poll numbers from October 3rd- Rogers 44.9% Segall 36.4%. This is within 8.5 points, not to mention African American turnout, and increased Democratic registering is expected to carry long shots like Segall. Also, Rogers is below the magic number of 50% for incumbents trying to get reelected.
Pollingreport.com
An incumbent leading with less than 50% (against one challenger) is frequently in trouble; how much depends on how much less than 50%. A common pattern has been for incumbents ahead with 50% or less to end up losing.
Thanks All, even if you can't donate, you can help spread the word! Join the Segall bandwagon, let's push him into Congress!
