After reading what "that one" McCain said about the small donors who have squeezed their budgets in order to partake in an historic election, something Barack Obama has encouraged us to do makes me very angry.I want to be e a part of it. I want to own a piece of his campaign. I want to be part of the change.
Never before I have I ever donated to a political campaign. I simply could not afford to and was embarassed to give small amounts. Barack Obama has made it possible for me, with a limited income, to not be ashamed to donate small amounts to his campaign. He thanks me for it.
John McCain complaining about the hundreds of thousands of small donors to Barack Obama's campaign is insulting to me. He belittles me and my small contributions by calling me somehow suspect and illegal.
I am a US citizen who has found a candidate that welcomes what I can give and give I did. I do not wish Senator Obama to disclose my small donations to that despicable McCain. That would leave every single small donor as a potential target by the GOP for investigation. Not that I have anything to hide but I do not wish to receive nasty calls from a Repug because I donated to Obama.
I have taken great pride that each month I am able to squeeze out a little from my budget to donate to Obama's campaign. I have purchased some items from the store, and I have been proud to be part of this historic campaign, even if only by small donations and phonebanking etc. Thousands upon thousands of people just like me finally are part of making change. They can not afford large donations, but they take great pride in giving even a little bit. I have a neighbor who is 70 years old and homebound. She has very little to live on but when she realized Barack Obama would be happy to receive her $5.00 at a time, she was so proud to have me help her make her donations. She told me never in her life did she think a candidate would be pleased to receive her $5.00. And that is what swayed her to Obama. She liked that about him. As she learned more and more about him, she is now a diehard Obama supporter and even bought a poster to put in her window. She is a gifted knitter and she even made these adorable badges that you can pin to your shirt.
She had done that before. We live just north of NYC and after 9/11 she made the most beautiful badges for our city's fire volunteers to wear and they did so proudly. She also sold some and donated the entire amount to a fund to help the children of those firefighters and police officers who perished.
She does not deserve the accusation that her donation to Barack Obama is somehow suspect.
I have contributed with my heart and I resent John McCain belittling it by insinuating that somehow my small contributions are somehow suspect.
I am angry. No, make that pissed off bigtime.
John McCain thinks by insinuating Barack Obama is hiding illegal contributions by not releasing the names of small donors like me is a way to intimidate us from making further donations. It won't work John McCain! We are pissed off and are not going to take that from you, you fake!
Thanks for allowing me to vent my displeasure at the latest attack. I say, NO John McCain, you can not have my name and address! No John McCain, you are NOT going to investigate me!
