According to the Huffington Posts Sam Stein: John McCain's campaign manager says he is reconsidering using Barack Obama's relationship with Reverend Jeremiah Wright as a campaign issue during the election's closing weeks. The Arizona Republican, Davis argued, had been jilted by the remarks of Rep. John Lewis, who compared recent GOP crowds to segregationist George Wallace's rallies. And, as such, the campaign was going to "rethink" what was in and out of political bounds.
Well now!! Lets get this out of the way. This is sorta laughable. The McCain campaign, Republicans, and the MSM have been discussing this for what now, 2 months? lets say that they spring this. Dont you think Obama already has ad's in the can about Rev hagee (McCains Problem), and Rev Muthee (Palins witch doctor). Not only did Hillary Clinton hit this during the primaries, but its been delved into time and time again. I think Americans will see this as deperate. In fact, what Rev Wright says iss bad mo-jo, but, I think Americans are smart enough to understand that even their pastor says things they dont necessarily agree with.
What McCain and his not-so-smart campaign manager dont realize is that they are faced with a time crunch. The average (new) revelation takes three days or so to sink in. To effect the polls really takes a week or so. Now, lets grant them some traction with ad's and some media presence. What happens now is that it maybe, just maybe gains them a point or two in the polls, and them things go back to where they were. This is the upside. The downside is that people already know this, and see it as even more desperation from McCain. Not only that, the John lewis's of the world will have any more unrestrained reason to attack McCain as a George Wallace-like surrogate. The can of wprms will be opened.
From what I see at McCain campaign rallies, his supporters already think that "Obama thinks we are all trash". Here is what I dont get. These whack a Mole, around the world attacks dont impress anyone. In fact, it emphasizes the appearance that the McCain campaign doesnt have a coherent strategy. Rick Davis in particular is responsible for this fiasco that they call a campaign. I would bet that people wonder why McCain hasnt gotten rid of him. His campaign is so poorly run that it calls into question once again, McCains judgement. For Christ sake! Can McCain get anyone to stay on message and have a tactical view of the political landscape? They will attack on Wright, and then the next day something else. while they try throwing mud against the wall, the clock is ticking. Is THAT what we want in a President? Al over the place? If anyone has ever played volleyball, the McCain campaign is just like that. In volleyball, everyone is assigned an area. Each individual responds and returns the balls when it comes in their assigned area. It seems with McCain, he has managed to find players who are all over the sand and court, with no sign of teamwork on the distant horizen. Dont we have that already in the Bush administration? If they had found what they are about, and pummeled that home, i am convinced they would be doing better. So far, they have not conveyed what the McCain campaign is about. Obama is about people and the middle class. McCain and his team are about..well, everything, but we just dont know what everything encompasses.
"Rev Wright, next floor", bring him on!!!
