For years, Joe Klein has been the scourge of the left wing. He is a center left kind of guy but has often been foisted on to us as our "rep" when the tv shows need to balance somebody to the right of Atilla the Hun to make things all equal like.
Lately however, Joe Klein or (Joke Line) as he is affectionately called by many in left blogistan has denounced the campaign tactics of the McCain campaign. Dissent is not tolerated. So like Maureen Dowd (another person who is not beloved by the left) he can not fly Air McCain.
In June, Klein was kept from boarding the McCain plane over what they said had been a security issue. More recently, when trying to fly on the Palin plane last week, Klein told Politico over e-mail that the campaign's response was he "couldn’t be accommodated at this time."
"I’ve done nine presidential campaigns and this is the first time this has ever happened to me," Klein said. "I was even allowed—I won’t say welcomed—on the Clinton plane in the summer of 1996 after I was revealed as the author of Primary Colors."
People say Bill Clinton was thin skinned and had a temper? Please. Bill Clinton is a zen like garden of calm compared to the losing candidate and his angry clan of underlings. Joe Klein? Are you kidding me?
Similarly, other Time magazine staffers, including Washington bureau chief Jay Carney, " reporter Michael Scherer, and Mark Halperin (The Page), have not had a problem with access.
Scherer has been a sycophant throughout the campaign, Carney is well Carney, and Halperin's world is ruled by Drudge. No soup for you though Joe Klein.
Is it any wonder McCain is going to lose this thing?
Update: In case you were wondering, we can't go on the plane either.
UPDATE: Campaign spokesperson Michael Goldfarb responded that "we don't allow Daily Kos diarists on board either."
