The League of Women's Voters runs a great website called smartvoter.org which gives you your polling locations and shows you your ballots for selected areas. It also includes links to campaign websites, candidate statements if provided (smartvoter does solicit them), and pro and con arguments for all state propositions, along with the text of each proposition. The scope of the site is as follows.
2008 Elections Our support for the November 4 Presidential election is about complete.
We are proud to support all state contests and measures for California, Massachusetts, Missouri, Ohio, New York, and Pennsylvania. Local elections are covered in the most populous counties in California and in Hamilton County, Ohio, the St. Louis, Missouri area (several counties), and Westchester County, New York.
We offer all candidates in participating counties and states free web space to help inform voters. Check back often as we add data until Election Day.
It's ridiculously easy. From the main page, you can either search out your personal ballot and polling location, or browse the election by state and then county. If the local candidates have filled out the questionnaires, there is a link to those.
It even gives you the rules! For instance, going to Franklin County, MA page gives you a listing of all the contests, tells you by when you must be registered to vote (Oct 15), as well as links to the state election divisions and other government offices.
This site has been quite valuable to me in the past, so I thought I'd let everyone else know about it. I have no connections with the LWV so I'm not just spammin' ya. Happy voting!
