I was pleasantly surprised by a phone call from Tom Perriello just a few minutes ago!  As a VA-5th victim of the outrageous and ignorant ministrations of Virgil Goode during the past few years, I have jumped on the bandwagon of a series of Democrats who have tried to unseat him.  None have been successful, in large part because there is a core of Low Information voters in this part of the world who think, "Virgil is such a nice boy."

Past opponents have generally taken the high road in campaigns against this embarrassment of a Congress Critter, and failed to wake up the Ladies That Lunch, and those who vote spasmodically for Republicans, in spite of their poverty, dying towns, and jobs being moved offshore.  Tom could change that.

Now, don't misunderstand.  Tom is NOT running a dirty campaign.  This Minister and Community Activist, is a gentle and thoughtful man, who just wants to point out the truth.  As Harry Truman said, when a supporter yelled, "Give em' Hell, Harry.", our own Tom Perriello could proudly say, "I just tell 'em the truth and they think it's Hell."

For starters, he is fielding this hard hitting ad all over the District.  The "Short Attention Span" of so many voters needs a kick, once in awhile.

In contrast, we have this example of the ads Virgil Goode is fielding.  (Republicans have no sense of humor.  Ever.  This is just too silly to tolerate, but Virgil thinks it will move his "base"  Fortunately for us, that base is getting smaller every day!)

Tom offers this for those "NASCAR Dads" that inhabit the cracks and corners of this little part of Red America.

But, back to my phone call.  It was a "Thank You" call for my efforts to date, and of course a request for another donation.

Tom also told me that the DCCC is moving funds into the race and that includes an add buy in Richmond, VA.  Richmond beams cable news service to a significant portion of the District and our inability to get funding for ads in Richmond during the past 3 cycles has created a real headache for the challenger.

This one is getting close.  The stars are aligning to boot a fear mongering, racist, anti-American dweeb, and we must pitch in and help!  This is a race than can really change the tone in Washington.  It will not only elevate the conversation in DC, increasing the civility, it will rid the Virginia 5th of our own Michelle Bachman!

Please rec this if you can see your way clear to do so.  And, for goodness sake, drop a $10 in Tom Perriello's tip jar.

I know you are being subjected to money calls from every side, but we are huge geographically and getting the word out is more expensive than in densely populated districts.  Give a fellow Kossack a hand and find it in your heart to dig just a little deeper.

Tom Perriello for Congress!

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
