I was shocked to hear it today on a local interview with John McCain. But the audio is up...
Excuse me as I am a novice...
This afternoon on AM 1130 KFAN, the local sports talk station here in the Minneapolis- St. Paul area played a John McCain interview done by one of their on-air personalities, former Star Tribune columnist Dan Barreiro. Out of the gate, Barreiro asked McCain about the statements made by Michele Bachmann last Friday on Hardball. Keep in mind that Bachmann was speaking as a surrogate for the McCain campaign. McCain responded with:
To tell you the truth, I haven't seen her remarks so I wouldn't have any comment until I have a chance to see them.
He goes on to suggest that Barreiro is the first person to have brought this up to him.
I was shocked, as I have a hard time believing him.
Barreiro presses him by asking him if he could comment on the "Anti-American" suggestions in general and McCain then deflects by bringing up John Lewis.
He not only refused to reject Bachmann's statements about Obama, he even refused to denounce the McCarthy- style calls for investigating whether elected officials are "Anti-American."
After repeating the lie that Sen. Obama has not denounced Congressman Lewis' remarks, McCain then dropped this jaw-dropper:
I have reputeated any, uh, out-of-line, over-the-top comments from any GOP member wherever they were in the United States of America.
Uh, except for the one that you were just asked about. What a joke.
Here is the link to KFAN's podcast. It is one of the first files. Again excuse me as I am new at this.
