I did a search and haven't seen this diary yet ...
We've been waiting for an October surprise, and I suppose there were glimmerings of a few over these past weeks, but they had more of a bizarro-world flavor, like the recent news that Sarah Palin is a freeloader; John McCain being a speaker and warmly welcomed at an ACORN conference; McCain's insistence that Obama is a socialist; Collin Powell's endorsement of Obama, etc.
But if there was ever more of a defining moment that this election is about choosing peace over war, here it is, and what a surprise:
Supporters of al-Qaeda have said they would prefer Republican candidate John McCain to win the US election because he is more likely to continue the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Of course, in their sick, twisted lust to make this happen, there could be devastating consequences for us yet.
If al-Qaeda carries out a big operation against American interests," it said, "this act will be support of McCain because it will push the Americans deliberately to vote for McCain so that he takes revenge for them against al-Qaeda. Al-Qaeda then will succeed in exhausting America till its last year in it.
