The Tulsa World just endorsed Jim Inhofe.  I encourage anyone who cares about electing Andrew Rice to the Senate to write a letter to the editor.

Letters should be sent to:

Mine is below the fold.

I take serious issue with the World's endorsement of Jim Inhofe for
Senate.  Despite your insistence that Oklahoma needs a "senior
senator," and your praise for Inhofe's accomplishments in the Senate,
you seem to have missed Inhofe's disgraceful television ads against
his opponent, Senator Andrew Rice.  Inhofe's incredibly offensive
television ads prey upon hate, fear, and homophobia to paint Andrew
Rice as someone who is "everything Oklahoma isn't."  These disgusting
ads are yet another example of how the Republican Party has to rely on
tearing down the opposition with mindless personal attacks rather than
proposing solutions it doesn't have to our nation's most pressing
problems.  Senator Rice, on the other hand, has run an honorable and
intelligent campaign, and has proposed real solutions to real problems
facing this state and the nation.  He deserved better from Tulsa's
only newspaper, and I am frankly disappointed with how easily you
dismissed Senator Rice's campaign and embraced Inhofe's far right hate

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

The Tulsa World to be a right wing rag. I just consider it to be a bad newspaper. They have issues with subject verb agreement.

I don't think it's giving away any big secrets at this point to note that the Tulsa World is the former employer of the former droogie6655321.

Droogie, man, wherever you are and whatever UID you're lurking under now...I bet you're glad to be out of there, huh?

  •  Tulsa World is incredibly short-sighted (0+ / 0-)

There was not any mention of the consequences to our planet or fixing what is broken about Washington.

They based their editorial solely on Inhofe's past ability to obtain pork for Oklahoma, which wasn't all that great considering that recent years were years of record pork, and Inhofe's influence rank is ONLY 74th, despite his 22 years in Congress. To put this rank in perspective, freshman Senators Jim Webb and Sherwood Brown are ranked as more influential: 2008 Senate Power Rankings

I am deeply disappointed in the Tulsa World. They probably were thinking of their ad revenues rather than the future of this nation and the planet. With the economy grinding to a halt through mismanagment (by Congressmen voting with Bush) and energy prices dropping, the reverberations will eventually hit Oklahoma, so everybody will be suffering. And thus advertising rates will be going down across the board, despite Oklahoma's relatively robust economy this past year and high employment rate.
