Since the primaries, I've spent most of my "street" time in the People's Republic of Northern Virginia. I've been as far south as Rappahannock County. It is inspiring to see the level of support Obama has even in that red part of "real" Ole' Virginny. Obama signs are almost as plentiful as McCain's. And not a single on of em peppered with buckshot. To be fair, most folks have been polite. So far, I've only had one guy threaten to shoot me if I didn't get off his property. I started singing the old Lynard Skynard song, "Gimme three steps, gimme three steps mister. Gimme three steps towards the door..." while I back peddled off his porch. He thought that was pretty funny.
For the next two weeks I'm dedicating my time to turning Virginia blue so I'll be scarce here. However, as I head for the door, let me leave a little ear candy for y'all as a token of my appreciation for everyone here. I figure if we're going to be out pounding the pavement in cold weather we may as well warm our hearts with a positive and uplifting song.
Follow me over the fold for "Real Change" as sung by Joe the Guitar Man. Enjoy! Hugs and kisses all around. See y'all at the victory party...
The candidates shown in the video are all senate candidates with good prospects for winning. If you want to help Barack grow some serious coat tails, throw them a little love and donate $20.08 to their campaigns. I know $20 is easier, but I always ask folks to dig just a little deeper and cough up the 8 cents because change matters!

Here are the lyrics to the song for those of you wanting to sing along:
To the tune of "Sweet Baby James" by James Taylor. |
This is an old maverick who acts mighty strange,
Lobbyists and insiders are his constant companions.
He plays "follow the leader" as he guts regulations
Waiting for handlers his cue cards to change. |
He knocks off work early so he can retire
Dreaming about winning an election this year
Closing his eyes to a world that’s on fire
Mumbling about wars for the next hundred years
And says That One’s the one we should fear? |
It’s over you right wing bullies
We know who’s gonna bring change
No reds just blues are the colors we choose
You can’t scare us no more with your schemes
‘Cause Barack’s gonna bring real change. |
Now the fourth of November will be the big show
And we’re gonna turn out from LA to Boston
A sixty seat senate will just be the frosting
The primaries pumped us. We’re ready. Let’s roll. |
There’s a song that we sing Yes We Can win the good fight
A song that we sing Yes We Can live the Dream
A song that we sing Yes We Can make things better
Baby, if you believe it, then it truly can be.
So won't you stand up and sing it with me? |
It’s over you right wing bullies
We know who’s gonna bring change
No reds just blues are the colors we choose
You can’t scare us no more with your schemes
‘Cause Barack’s gonna bring real change. |
