While in NJ, I heard a wingnut radio host discuss how the repugs were making a passionate effort to get the black vote.
The words came back when I read an editorial in the Philadelphia Inquirer on Friday.

Apparently, Dean didn't lay it on thick enough in his speech to the black journalists convention in Atlanta. His republican counterpart, however:
"Mehlman began with an anecdote strategically designed to soften his listeners' prejudice against an outsider. He talked about the recent death of his grandfather, Joseph Mehlman, who as a young grocer in West Baltimore joined the NAACP.
"Today Joe Mehlman's grandson is proud to be chairman of the party of Lincoln, Harriet Tubman, Booker T. Washington, Sojourner Truth and "<snip>
and
"The Party of Lincoln and the African American community have a proud history together," he continued. "Our party was founded to eliminate slavery, and our first Republican president was..."
blah blah blah
The editorialist provided an important service in pointing out what we're up agaiinst.
Even so, it reminds of of King Lear rebuking the daughter who really loved him, and rewarding the daughter shrewed enough to lay on the BS.
Unfortunately, In these dark ages of education lite and short attention spans, BS is king.
