I am devoting this diary to call your attention to a batch of Congressional candidates. Several are incumbents trying to hand on to seats that potentially could be in some jeopardy. Others are challngers to Republican seats, either open or against a challenger.
Each is someone I personally know. That doesn't make me special It is instead evidence about how personal each one is.
I am going to contribute, albeit nomimanlly given my limited income as a school teacher, to each person I list.
I am asking that you contribute, even if nominally, to as many as you can.
So below the fold is my list of people for whom I ask for your support, your money.
Eric Massa - running for a second time in the 29th District in New York.
Dan Maffei, another one running for a second time in NY, this time in an open seat in NY-25.
Nick Lampson in TX-22 - one of the "freshman" Democrats in some potential jeopardy, holding what was Tom Delay's seat. Nick is a former HS biology teacher, and both his wife and daughter are teachers
John Yarmuth - he's probably safe, even though Ann Northrup is running to take back her House seat from him in KY-03
Charlie Brown in CA-04, running for a second time in what is now an open seat
Pat Murphy, who won narrowly last time in 8th CD of PA, and who was an early and strong advocate for Barack Obama.
Fellow hs social studies teacher Larry Kissell, running again against Robin Hayes in NC 8th.
Daniel Johnson, running a spirited race against the noxious (and closeted( Pat McHenry in NC 10.
Scott Kleeb - he lost a contested House race in Nebraska last the time, and despite the long odds has a shot at the open Nebraska Senate race.
Rick Noriega running for the TX Senate against John Cornun
Gary Peters - he is currently holding a lead in MI-09 against Joe Knollenberg, but the race is still competitive.
Tom Periello - I will spend this Saturday in the 5th CD on behalf of Tom in his race against the horrible Virgil Goode, Jr.
Judy Feder - she has a shot against Frank Wolf, her second run against him the the 10th CD of Virginia.
Barry Welsh running again against Mike Pence in IN-06. Barry has never had money, but he he running a competitive race under the radar, and if he could get a little money has a real chance to knock off Mike Pence - in a state where Obama is doing far better than most people would have expected.
Jeff Merkley is a Senator we need from Oregon, running against Gordon Smith.
And of course Darcy Burner again in WA-08.
I'm sure you can add some people you know. These are people I know, whom I respect, whom I would love to see in DC. As would you.
All the links will take you to the home page of the candidate, so you can explore. From there you can easily get to the place where you can contribute.
No, I don't have my own Act Blue page. Because it is not about me. It is about these candidates, about the future of our nation, and thus about all of us.
Peace.
