WASHINGTON – Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama reports raising $36 million for his campaign during the first two weeks of October.
Obama's fundraising pace showed a marked decline compared with the $150 million he raised in September. That's according to a financial report he filed with the Federal Election Commission late Thursday.
Hopefully, the campaign can keep the funds flowing for these last two weeks.
Obama spent more than $105 million from Oct. 1 to Oct. 15. At that pace he would more than double his record spending from September.
Evidently, the Obama campaign has been spending at a pretty high clip. Maybe that's why he's been able to be aggressive in going after some of the red states.
He had nearly $66 million in the bank at the end of the two-week period.
John McCain and the Republican National Committee reported having a combined $84 million as of last week to spend before Election Day.
We can't blow this right at the end. Obama needs a strong finishing kick to complete the knockout (sorry for the mix of sports metaphors).
Let's not get complacent.
Edit - Added the link to the article in intro. (sorry for not including it earlier).
Edit2 - It appears that since I first posted the article, the AP has added more information and article has almost tripled in size. For everyone asking why I omitted certain information, again, I posted the entire article as soon as it went up. I am not a troll (look at my prior posts), just a supporter who doesn't want to take any chances.
