We've all heard about the amazing Obama ground game. All of you have great stories about canvassing in your towns. Or traveling to other states. Or phonebanking. I am terrible at those things, but I have done data entry for our office.
But I'm curious how we have all been affected by the ground game.
I've been off the grid for the Obama campaign for much of the campaign. I had no calls during the caucus season. I wasn't an Obama supporter then, but I was not sure how they figured that out. I've had just a couple of calls in the general, but I'm on the volunteer list, so I am not the type of person that would get too many calls! I also haven't gotten ANY direct mail yet. None from McCain either (I was a Bush voter in 2000, so in 2004, I still got some Republican mail).
So in an interest of getting an idea of what the ground game is for our campaign, I would be interested in hearing the following:
- What state you live in
- Are you getting calls from campaigns, which ones, how often
- Are you getting a lot of direct mail?
- Are you getting canvassed?
- Any other information about the ground game you've seen---what have you heard from friends or neighbors that might not be so involved in politics.
I've said it before, but I am extremely paranoid. I am sure there are others that are too, so I am hopeful that this diary is one that I can look at and realize that we are doing everything possible. And it's always good to get an idea outside of what the campaign talks about.
