Just one week ago, Michelle Bachmann, MN-06, was sitting comfortably with a lead in her race to reelection against Democrat and Lutheran pastor Elwyn Tinklenberg. Michelle went on the Chris Matthews Hardball show and said that Michelle and Barack Obama held anti-American views. She also said that she wanted the media to investigate the congress to see who exactly is pro-America and anti-America. There is more and it is all deplorable. Bachmann has denied saying this, by the way.
In case you might have missed this:
That Hardball rant cost Bachmann a lot. Luckily, people actually took a look at her and didn't like what they saw. Colin Powell used Bachmann as an example of what is wrong with the Republicans this year, and part of the reason he is supporting Obama, because of the negativity in the Republican campaign (Powell's Bachmann comments - won't imbed.) Former Minnesota Governor and Republican Arne Carlson announced his support for Obama, also citing the Bachmann words. People all over the United States saw her rant for what it was...a witch hunt in the vein of the old Senator Joe McCarthy anti-Communism hunts that prevailed in the 1950s. Her opponent, Tinklenberg, hardly knew what hit him. He was blasted with donations so fast, they almost could not keep track. They keep coming in and in a week, Tinklenberg has taken in $1.3 million, by over 23,000 contributors(Bloomberg/Bachmann) and the best news of all, Bachmann is behind Tinklenberg in the latest MPR Poll.
Tinklenberg 47, Bachmann 44. MPR Poll Another interesting thing about this poll, is that one fifth of the McCain supporters are no longer voting for Bachmann. One of her former Republican fans, Reed Christensen, said "
Since this has come out I've learned a lot more about who she's running against. And with the comments she made, it made me determine that I'm not going to vote for her, and I'd vote for anybody, no matter who was running against her, based on her comments."
Bloomberg news says this about the Bachmann effect:
Bachmann's `self-inflicted'' damage may drag down Republicans all over the ballot, University of Minnesota professor Lawrence Jacobs said. ``It will not take much of a dip in turnout to have a cataclysmic effect on the races in Minnesota,'' said Jacobs, director of the Center for the Study of Politics and Governance.
"It's like this," one Dem staffer starts to explain. "You spend hours setting up your dominos, tediously. Tireless, meticulous work, and then she comes and sits on the table."
The RNC has pulled all it's ad buys from Michelle Bachmann's race GOP Dumps Bachmann, which left Michelle with a big hole where her campaign used to be. To fire up and fill up her coffers after the RNC pulled out of her race, she sent a solicitation to her "friends". In it, she says that THOUSANDS OF liberal bloggers are calling her office and calling her staff names:
" Nazi. Psychopath. Deranged. Mentally ill. Disgusting human being. Bitch."
She says that:
"...the Far Left has donated more than half a million dollars (to my opponent) in the 24 hours following the show."
(It's a million and a half, Michelle, but who's counting.)
Instead of any kind of apology to all the people she called names in her Hardball rant, this insipid piece of mail, she asks for money no less than SIX times.
Good news, all you anti-Americans....Bachmann is losing the grip on her campaign... fast. Elwyn Tinklenberg, her able opponent, has used our donations wisely. He has great ads running here in Minnesota, using her very own words to damn her.
Here's a few lines from Bachmann's desperate push for funds:
Ever since my appearance on MSNBC's Hardball on Friday night, my office has received calls from all across the nation - California, Illinois, Georgia, Texas, Oregon, Vermont, and elsewhere. Some of the calls have been respectfully disagreeing with my statements on the show. Most, unfortunately, are full of hate and anger and language like that above - and worse.
And, they're putting their money where their mouths are.
(Now closing on ONE AND A HALF MILLION for Tinklenberg. Isn't Democracy grand?
Desperation tactic number ONE:
Click here to let them know that we're not going to stand for their lies.
Here's what she SAYS she said in that tape above:
Because I said that Barack Obama's close relationships with people like Bill Ayers and Jeremiah Wright and others who hold far-out-of-the-mainstream views might have had some influence on the policy positions that Barack Obama holds.
From there Chris Matthews did what Chris Matthews is paid big bucks to do: Twist my words and set them up for full-fledged distortion when his next guest came on. And, when the liberal blogs got hold of little clips of my appearance, the spin machine really kicked into overdrive.
Desperation TWO:
Click here to let Chris know you play hardball too! I never said that all liberals are anti-American. I never asked for a House Unamerican Activities Committee witch hunt. But, that's what the spin machine is saying. And, that's what these callers believe.
Desperation THREE:
These tactics from the Far Left should scare you. Click here to scare them back.
They're motivated entirely by their hatred of me and my conservative beliefs.
No, Michelle, we're motivated by fairness and honesty in the political spectrum and a desire to weed out people who have homophobic, racist and extreme viewpoints...kind of like YOU.
Desperation FOUR:
I have to be able to raise money at this pace as well. We can't allow an influx of money to take control of this race. Please send what you can and send it quickly.

Desperation SIX:
PS. This use of Leftist money to try and silence conservatives is the most dangerous turn of events I have ever seen in politics. Click here to say no to the Far Left, Act Blue and their buddies.
Let's send some more "leftist" money to Tinklenberg to make sure we don't let this hate-filled woman back into this race. Contribute what you can to Tinklenberg today.Contribute to Tinklenberg via Act Blue
