Bush was launching a "rare" airstrike in Syria.
According to news reports,
U.S. military helicopters launched an extremely rare attack Sunday on Syrian territory close to the border with Iraq, killing eight people in a strike the government in Damascus condemned as "serious aggression."
The purported reason for the strike was to target the "foreign fighter network". However, Syria has been desirous of renewing Intelligence sharing and want diplomatic ties with the US to resume.
Was this Bush's "fuck you" moment to Damascus? And, exactly what is he leaving for the next President to untangle regarding diplomatic ties and Intelligence sharing with? Was it Cheney's "gift" to McCain, the October Surprise we've been waiting for? or, will this ploy backfire on McCain and the GOP?
