Some filmmaker friends of mine went to Ohio the week before last to see what's happening on the battleground. Working with the Columbus Obama office, they attended a Biden rally and a Hillary rally, then hit the road to look for undecided voters in the small city of Marietta, which is located right on the West Virginia border, part of the Appalachian Plateau. They met a lot of people who ordinarily might be voting Republican, but have been driven by the long-term depression of rural Ohio's economy to consider the possibility that a Democratic president might be better for the country.
