Have been reading, here, here, there, and elsewhere, about Senator John Sidney McCain's gambling jones. Hovever, until emptywheel pointed out that Ol' Johnny's consistent failure to disclose his "high-stakes" winnings and losses on Senate Financial Disclosure Forms is exactly what Ted "Pork King" Stevens was just found guilty of, un-convicted "felon" was not among descriptors I've applied to the Arizona Senator.
If once a man indulges in murder, very soon he comes to think little of robbing; and from robbing he comes next to drinking and sabbath-breaking, and from that to incivility and procrastination.
~ On Murder as One of the Fine Arts, by Thomas de Quincey
Upstaged by the colossal criminality of the Bush/Cheney regime -- a rule of law free-fire zone in which Sheriff Decider and Deputy Dick have brazenly planned and engaged in the biggest armed robbery of this nascent new century; wholesale looting of pallets of cash; massive warrantless surveillance; suspension of habeus corpus; election theft; torture to death of detainees . . . -- who's gonna quibble about some ongoing discrepancies on an old man's financial disclosure forms?
I am. And I am inviting others, perhaps even holy-roller defenders of "pro-America" like Michelle Bachmann, to demand that, "the news media should do a penetrating expose and take a look" at Johnny's dice habit. Indeed, "I think people would be -- would love to see an expose like that."
John McCain has called on Toobz Stevens to resign from the Senate.

. . . McCain stresses that Stevens was found guilty of insider-dealing. But that's not correct. Rather, Stevens was convicted of not declaring gifts on his Senate Financial Disclosure Forms.

It's funny McCain should make that mistake, given that he himself appears to be guilty of similar omissions in his Senate Financial Disclosure Form. Despite public reports of McCain gambling--and, at times, winning--large sums, he has never reported his gambling winnings on his Senate Financial Disclosure Forms.
