Some of you know about the Grandpa Harold diaries. What some of you may not know is that some anonymous person mailed a cashiers check for $200 dollars so that I could visit my grandparents.
I have felt very badly about this. This may be a person who really needed that money. I've been thinking of what to do about this and have come to a decision.
Today, I called the Obama campaign in my home town of Canton, Ohio, and asked them if they needed someone to drive elderly people to the polls. The gave me the number of a guy named Duane. I told Duane my story and that I would be coming down on election day and using the $200 dollars to rent a van to to take any other elderly folks to the polls that need help.
This is a very long drive for me...I don't just live along the Canadian border, I live deep in the Canadian bush.
I just want to let you know, Mr. or Mrs. Anonymous, that everyone in our family read your letter and we were all deeply touched. It was very personal, so I will not publish it here.
Your gift will be used to touch not just me, but as many other people as I can accomodate on Nov. 4.
Whoever you are.
Thank you.
A song for you as I sit here listening to the rain fall outside...and contemplate my trip back to America.
Also, some of you might not have seen that I got 2 tickets for Grandpa and my Dad to see Obama give his speech in Canton. Dad got behind Susan Malvaux from CNN and was waving up a storm! Grandpa said...bless his heart...that "he looks just like he does on the television!"
Thumbs up!
NOW, Unrec this diary and Rec' this one, please.
