Just saw an astonishing ad from a group called OurGreatestFear.org, which basically crystalizes our fear of President McCain dying in office.
Updated with embedded video. (Helps to read help.)
The commercial is very simple: it has an unflattering slow-motion image of McCain superimposed on the White House which slowly morphs into an image of Sarah Palin. The announcer remarks on the current challenges the new president faces, the need for a steady hand at the tiller, the high chance of McCain dying in office and the real possibility of Palin becoming president. At the end of the commercial, the announcer intones "President Sarah Palin, think about it".
I haven't had such a visceral reaction to a campaign commercial since LBJ's daisy commercial. It really does speak to one of my greatest fears.
The website, OurGreatestFear.org, does not say who is behind the commercial, other than a plea from Danny Elfman for funds to run the commercial in key swing states. Presumably, it's the same Danny Elfman who composes music for Tim Burton movies.
