As Kos said himself sometime today, Friday is the last day to donate and make a meaningful difference. Well, I'm wrapping up my donations requests tomorrow. I'm going to help some local candidates over the weekend and hopefully be able to get out and GOTV for Josh Segall the last couple of days.
I've come real close to reaching my total goal of $6,400. But I also would love to hit 150 total donors.
I've got a number of candidates on my list. Can you find one to give $1 or $2 or $5 tonight? Especially look at Josh Segall in Alabama 03, Kay Hagan (NC-Sen) or Jim Martin (GA-Sen)
AL-03 -
- Today Josh Segall got another big endorsement from Alabama Lt. Governor Jim Folsom. Folsom carried this district in 2006.
- On another note Congressman Artur Davis criticized Segall for his bailout vote video released this week.
Segall rightfully said
"I love Artur, but we're going to disagree on some things and this is something we disagree on," Segall said. "He's given me a lot of advice, and obviously he's an important person to me, but I've got to do what's right for east Alabama, and we disagree on this vote."
It also takes a lot of courage to take this position by Segall. I am a big fan of Artur Davis, but I agree with Segall in that you have to look at how little it did for the homeowners. Getting criticism on a political ad by one of the more popular Democrats in the State is certanly not ideal this late in the game.
"That ad is not likely to be terribly effective as a political tactic," Davis said. "It's an old story to people that Mike Rogers voted for the bailout. If this were an issue capable of moving large numbers of voters, it already would have done it."
Well Segall has been criticizing this vote and I think that he has gotten some leverage out of raising this issue.
- Mooncat at Left in Alabama wrote a great diary about how Ron Sparks endorsement earlier this week means a lot. Well we got word that Sparks will be writing a diary supporting Segall. That's even better news.
NC-Sen
We've got a number of other candidates on our page including Kay Hagan who was attacked by Liddy Dole in an ad about religion called promises. If you haven't seen it, it will blow your mind.
I think this is absolutely horrendous. We know that Dole is going to pull out all the stops.
GA-Sen
I got put on the spot today when giving a radio interview. I was asked what the biggest surprise this election would be.
I said
Obama will do better than most think in the South. Also, I believe Jim Martin will beat Saxby outright or force a runoff.
Give a few more bucks and make me feel smart next Wed.
