This is an ancient topic but I think for the first time in US History this presidential election has seen the influence that Consolidation of the media can have.
I think its an important conversation to have at this time.
We have a private company, Bain Capital - founded by Mitt Romney that owns the nations largest radio station operator, Clear Channel Communications. This company employs Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity.
Clear Channel Communications has a content sharing agreement with Foxnews, who also employs Sean Hannity and Glenn Beck.
Tune to Foxnews, tune to any Clear Channel run AM radio station and you will see how these media conglomerations are attempting to influence the election.
Clear Channel Communications flagship station is WOAI in San Antonio, TX.
Here is their website: http://radio.woai.com/...
Notice the Foxnews logo's? the Joe the Plumber stories? the Obama will take your guns banners? This is a company essentially owned by Mitt Romney.
An Obama Administration will have the opportunity to re-regulate this industry. Prior to the telecommunications act of '96 there were very rigid limits on how many stations a single entity could own in a market place. Those limits existed to prevent what we are seeing today with Fox and Clear Channel. A rich person (or two) buying the election by buying the media outlets.
Without Clear Channels (mitt) 1100 radio stations there wouldnt be a Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity or Glenn Beck and add all those other hacks in here too...
It's time to get these people off the airwaves, they are destroying our country.
Here's an old article from Huffpo on the subject:

You wonder why Fox and Clear Channel are so biased? It's not just about ratings, it's about controlling the media and it needs to end.
