I just got push polled by "natl poler 08".  At least, misspellings and all, that's what came up on my caller id.  The questions were, if I remember correctly:

  1.  Do you plan to vote in the Nov. 4th election?
  1.  Have you heard about Measure 11?
  1.  Do you identify yourself as "pro-life" or "pro-abortion"?
  1.  Would you vote "yes" for abortion as a form of birth control?
  1.  Do you have an internet connection?

At this point I hung up.  I'm sure a poll result will come out shortly from these people saying that South Dakotans are for Measure 11 to stop abortion as a form of birth control.  Really, we are more moderate than much of the country gives us credit for.  The polls show the measure functionally tied.  Not sure how early voting is going here...my husband and I voted at our courthouse over a month ago.  As a whole, SD  is really, really tired of this issue, no matter what side someone is on.  It almost tore us apart last time.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

Is she behind the campaign for Measure 11?

I don't see her out front this time around.

  •  bad question (0+ / 0-)

anyone who thinks abortion is a good method of birth control is a sick, sick person.  A measure of last resort, but not your primary method.

Its like saying that its OK to drink and drive since you got an airbag.

but strangely, there is not as much public discussion about Measure 11 this time around...from either side.  Yes, there have been the predictable ads and LTE's, but last time she was on tv ALL THE TIME.  She's extremely abrasive and shrill.  Some Dr.'s have come out for 11 and a number of others have come out against.  I think there's not as much $ behind it from SD contributors this year.  The big donor from last time refused to be named and it went to the State Supreme Court.  Rumor has it that it's an elderly, rich lady and she's afraid of "death threats" so that's why legally they can't force her to reveal herself.  Mind you, that's just a rumor I heard.  It's plausible that it's true.  Who knows?  We also haven't had nearly the protests either for or against this time...last time we had lots of pics of semi-aborted babies lining the streets and a number of women who felt guilty for having abortions were all over the tv and the papers.  Not so much this time.

    •  Chris Nelson was going to go after Roger Hunt (0+ / 0-)

for awhile, but I think that those right-wingers stonewalled him on it, so he wasn't able to do anything.

I voted a straight Democratic ticket this year - I like Gary Hanson as PUC, but I voted for his Dem opponent because Gary will win anyway and I can't bring myself to vote for any Republicans this year.

I really do wonder who gave that money in 2004, though - I really do.

  •  Well, I don't think Roger Hunt (0+ / 0-)

was the one with the $.  He might have facilitated it, but it wasn't his money.  I'm hoping for a few more Dems in Pierre this time around.  Calling people "RINO's" is big here in West River.  Moderates are ridiculed.  But in spite of all that, Obama only trails by 5...go figure.

  •  I also got this poll. (0+ / 0-)

It was a voice-response robo-poll and it was all yes/no questions, so question #3 was actually like, "Do you consider youself 'pro-life'?" and did not use the term "pro-abortion" as given above. After the questions it stated it was paid for by Vote Yes For Life which is Leslee Unruh's group. I was happy to give them the answers they don't want.

  •  I got this poll (0+ / 0-)

and was disgusted by it's wording. I completed it because I wanted to know exactly what they were asking and how they were asking it, but the whole "would you vote yes for abortion as a form of birth control" question really got my blood boiling.
