We've heard of the Bradley effect. We've heard of the 'reverse' Bradley effect. But in this ocean of unknowns, aka the 2008 Presidential election, little is know, and even less is discussed, about the 'double reverse backflip' Bradley effect aka Obama supporters voting for Obama.
Being a leftist and all, I tend to watch MSBC news coverage the most. I dabble in a little Anderson Cooper every now and then, and rarely touch Fox. I find out most everything I know about right-wingers from listening to the loathsome Rush Limbaugh on a daily basis.
It was from the "ditto's" mouth that I first learned of this so-called Bradley effect (hereafter referred to as "BE"). Being the age that I am, although I was around, I wasn't old enough to pay attention to elections taking place where I lived, much less on the other side of the country. So, I was completely clueless when I heard Limbaugh mention the BE during his daily barrage of Obama-hate and I went and did a little digging.
No need to offer a detailed explanation of the BE to this well-versed DK crowd. But, it does seems that talking heads like Chris Matthews, David Gregory, Chuck Todd, and to some extent Anderson Cooper and his cacophony of political analysts, better known at "the little faith gang", are giving way too much credence to a state election that happened in California more than a quarter of a century ago. Since 1982, California demographics, like US demographics, have shifted drastically and I think it's fairly safe to assume that whatever rules that existed in 1982 no longer apply.
Enter the 'reverse' BE. The aforementioned little-faith gang give very little mention to the real possibility that after John McCain's Hindenburg-esq campaign, some people may enter the voting booth and simply may not be able to push that button for McCain, thus creating a landslide for Obama in both the popular and electoral votes.
So, in the spirit of continually reminding Tom Bradley of his past failures, I introduce the 'double reverse backflip' BE better known as Obama supporters showing up in droves to vote for, well, Obama. I suspect all these different BEs will eventually cancel eachother out.
Coming Nov. 4- the 'Triple-Axel Double Twist' Bradley Effect loosely defined as Obama supporters having second-thoughts while waiting in long lines at the polls but reaffirming their commitment to change once they enter the voting booth.
