I started early afternoon in downtown Marion and spent about four hours calling unaffiliated voters in McDowell County. My list was mainly from the little community of Nebo, out by breathtaking
Lake James. I know the area pretty well and at first glance, you would probably think of it as a "family values" kind of place. Well, most of the fine folks I got through to were either voting for or had already voted for Barack Obama.
Out of about two dozen conversations, no one was mean. I get the feeling that most normal folks are actually closet socialists with a few commies thrown in. They also approve of having terrorists as BFFs. Who knew?
Hmmm, wait a minute, maybe they just don't believe the propaganda from the unholy triangle of Drudge/McCain/Fox.

There were only three of us, me on the phone for voters, another on the phone for volunteers and another entering data. So if anyone just happens to be driving by one of the Marion, NC exits off I-40 on their way to or from our breathtaking fall colors in the mountains...................
