"Segregation now, segregation tomorrow, segregation forever." That is what Governor George Wallace said in 1963, and it rings true today. There are still those pushing for segregation and we need to do all we can to stop them on election day.
I was in Pleasanton, CA today and there are activists on every corner, some Yes On Prop 8, some No On Prop 8. I gave some of the Prop 8 opponents some love as I walked by.
Pleasanton, for those who do not know, is a conservative city in the San Francisco Bay area. It was not surprising to see a lot of support for Prop 8 there.
But when I drove through San Jose I saw something unexpected. A group of 30 to 40 people, some of whom were children, holding Yes on 8 signs. Great, their parents are brainwashing them at a young age, before they are old enough to understand the issues at hand. If they are only using them as a prop to advance their political agenda, than shame on them.
I also saw people with McCain/Palin signs in Pleasanton. I could not resist yelling out, "Yes, go Palin. Alaska should secede and become its own country." The teenager with the sign looked befuttled and I hope he Googled Plain/Secession after my little outburst.
Vote No On 8. Just a friendly reminder that hatred is still alive and we need to come out in droves to vote a ban on same sex marriage down. Good luck on Tuesday!
