(with apologies to Harlan Ellison)
I'm not going to walk their road no more. I'm not going their way.
I'll see them, work with them, live in the same places, spaces as them.
But I'm not going to walk their road no more. I'm not going their way.
Some kind of feeling, it's been coming a long time and it's not about who I'm going to vote for but about what I've seen and learned, who I vote for is going to have to dig me, not the other way around, I'm not going to walk their road no more. I'm not going their way.
Just a puny individual, preacher with no choir, don't matter, I don't need powers of high office or big money, that's not the road I'll be walking, not the way I'm going.
Not taking a stand, making a vow, pushing a view, playing a con, making a big deal, hysterically laughing or crying, waiting or hoping or fearing or gleefully plotting vengance, and all those things are in me.
I'm grokking the vote.
Someone's going to have a lot of power and fame, will be able to make gigantic decisions and send out minions to change the way we do business or get sick or educate ourselves or go to worship or not worship, who we love, big huge decisions and laws written on tablets and such and courtrooms full of important judges who will rule like kings and queens themselves judgments spreading out through the land with lawyers doing Isadora Duncan interpretational dances of explanations to corporations and movie studios alike and Wallmart, even! as the tablets are acted upon in the marketplaces and public spaces throughout the country with sherriffs and cops watching and secret spies and such and big media with nova bright lights and loud voices blaring across the world for good or ill.
I wish them all well. But I'm not going to walk their road no more, I'm not going their way.
There's something sacred and I aim to see it.
I'm grokking the vote.
They may not serve me, my passions are not in that powerful mainstream I see rushing by with such great force. I'll ride the tide, that's ok, but I'm not going to walk their road no more, I'm not going their way.
Change.
Seeing as no one has the big answer, I'll just change my view, panorama like, and well, there's something sacred and I aim to see it.
I'm grokking the vote.
