Today, Tucson Star (AZ Daily Star) newspaper endorsed Barack Obama.
More below the fold
Yesterday, on two different blocks in downtown Phoenix people rallied "about" John McCain.
On one side, John Kyle, Sheriff Joe and others begging for louder and louder screams so the divorcees could hear them chanting for John McCain.
On the other side a group of AZ residents were performing a mock divorce infront of John McCain's office.
All of you already know the polls here in Arizona have pushed our state into Pink territory - potentially a toss up.
Mind Blowing...
After church today I took my Uncle by the hand, walked him out to our car and showed him our AZ BLUE 2008 sticker. He was so very happy that this was a possiblity. He has been a Democrat in a Republican state, surrounded by Republicans for the last 40 years. This was something he never thought he'd see as a possiblity. He's 79 years old. He happily marked his absentee ballot for Barack Obama and Bob Lord.
We prayed our prayer of safety for Senator Obama and his family as for John McCain. Secretly we were praying that Tuesday night we would find our way to the promised land, an America of hope and an America with a new future.

UPDATE: Marc Ambinder via Andrew Sullivan provide us something to look for in Arizona on election day. Ambinder suggests that Obama could win "...assuming McCain will take Maricopa County by 5 points....[Obama] would need...20 points over McCain..." in Pima County, "...doable if turnout is very high." Meltzer and Scarpinato indicated in an article yesterday in the Arizona Daily Star that the Pima county (second largest county behind Maricopa) will more-than-likely "take days" to return an election result.
HERE ARE SOME NUMBERS THAT MAY SUPPORT THIS THEORY - IF THE INDEPENDANTS BREAK FOR MCCAIN IN MARICOPA AND OBAMA IN PIMA: Maricopa County 2008 versus 2006 number of total registered voters down 11%. Independants out weigh both Republicans and Democrats by 4% and 9% respectfully, but Republicans out weigh Democrats by 3%. In Pima county total registrations are down from 2006 by 19%. Independants out weigh both Republican and Democrats by 15% and 7% respectfully. Democrats out weigh Republicans by 8%.
