It's been a long 20 months, as you all know. And this last week? Excruciatingly slow. Even harder was waiting until today to cast my vote for Barack Obama, but we always go over our votes with a couple of friends, and couldn't get together with them until last night.
We filled in the box next to Obama's name and then we all stopped, put our ballots down, and just smiled at each other. OK, and then drank some champagne. A moment's reflection on two years of work, and 143+ years of social and spiritual growth in our country that had led us to the point where we could vote for a President like Barack Obama.
On my way to deliver the ballots to the nearest mailbox the next morning, I had to take some pictures. I wanted to document the moment we all made history.
Barack? Four more Washington State votes for you. Christine Gregoire? Four more votes against the slimeball Dino Rossi. George Fearing? Four votes closer to pulling off the upset.
I know there are millions of people voting, and that our experience was no more special or unique than what most of you have already done. But it was the coolest feeling in the world, and I thought you might want to see the photos.
Cheers all!
Signed, sealed, almost delivered...
They're yours, Barack!
Obama-mobile 1 .... now all I need is some arugula.
Hmmm ... wonder if the neighbors know who I'm voting for?
You too, Christine, grab on to those coattails.
