Hey guys, its me, your daughter and sister, Lauren. We talk politics fairly often, and I cherish that. Lots of people can't talk to their families about politics, apparently it gets too heated. I love that not only can we talk about it, we can all get excited about it, and despite the occasional difference of opinion, never get angry with one another. Well, except that one time at Thanksgiving.
I'm so proud of you Kris for going and voting early, standing in line with your 3-month old daughter. I'm also really jealous that you got to see Sen. Obama speak, even if it was by accident. I agree, I am sure he was totally waving at YOU as his motorcade passed.
Dad, I'm really proud of you for being furious at what people like Karl Rove and Dick Cheney have done to this country, specifically how they usurped patriotism to serve their own ugly desires. And I'm proud of you for being properly disgusted by the choice of Sarah Palin as a running mate. By the way, do you know Kris and I regularly listen to NPR now? I hope it feels good to have your listening choices vindicated these many years later.
Mom, I'm proud of you for taking so long to make up your mind. Sure, it would have been great for you to have been an Obama supporter all along, but you weren't convinced, so you waited, watched and listened. I'm proud that former Secretary of State Colin Powell's eloquent endorsement of Sen. Obama convinced you that he was ready to lead. And I'm proud that this weekend you allowed an Obama volunteer to give you a yard sign which you are now proudly displaying in Shelbyville, KY.
Thanks guys for being my family, and for demanding better for the people you love. I know it goes without saying, but be sure to vote tomorrow (except you Kris, you know the rules) and stay in line, no matter how long!
