I'm an entrepreneur and I get pretty jazzed when it comes to business stuff - particularly when it comes to small businesses.
I can tell you from expereience that you have to be able to invest in your own business to make it successful. It takes money to make money.
With that being said, it's easier for the wealthy to make more money. They have capital to work with and can easily invest in people and projects that can show a good return.
But for middle class/poor entrepreneurs it's much more difficult. You either have to have the resources to invest in your own business, or you have to find an investor. But, in order to find an investor, you still have to position your business to be investor friendly, which again takes money.
So it's easy to see why in today's society, the rich get richer, and the divide between the rich and the middle class and even the poor, is growing larger and larger.
It's not that the middle class or the poor don't work hard, or don't have great ideas, they just don't have the same access to resources.
Many small business owners do not have health insurance. In fact, my former business partner cannot get insurance because she was anemic during a pregnancy many years ago. Although she is extremely healthy, her anemia at the time is considered to be a pre-existing condition. In order for her to get insurance, she has to pay big bucks.
I think that Obama's health insurance plan will create more entrepreneurs, because people won't feel like they have to stay stuck in their dead end job just to get health insurance.
I also believe in regulation ( particularly when it comes to the environment). I think that regulations should be in place to safeguard our people and our planet, in a way that still provides plenty of oppportunity and motivation for people to be excited about what they can do.
My husband keeps telling me that Obama has made too many promises and that we can't afford to do what he wants to do. I disagree.
I think that Obama will be one of those unique people, who can empower the people of the United States to make real change. He doesn't have to do that from the top down, he just needs to create a path. I believe that the people of the United States of America and beyond, can make all those promises happen, through our own creativity, ingenuity and perserverence. I think the entrepreneur just needs to come out in all of us.
