This diary has been sitting in draft form for a month now. I've been afraid to mess with the karma. It still seems scary to really believe in President-Elect Obama.
Is anyone planning some kind of event at the Lincoln memorial tomorrow night on the 4th? It would be wonderful to have candles, music, and prayer as President-Elect Obama sweeps to victory. The reflecting pool is amazing, and I have this vision of the whole monument/pool area lit up with candles on the evening of November 4th.
I was moved by a comment someone posted about years since emancipation (Free at Last!), and somehow a tribute at the Lincoln memorial seems appropriate. I know others have posted about incorporating the Lincoln memorial into inauguration ceremonies, but I'm imagining an election night vigil to wait for the results.
I'm not quite ready to weep, but I hope that around midnight on November 4th, I'll be weeping with joy, jubilation, sadness for our past, a sense of history, and amazement.
