If you are tired, keep going.
If you are scared, keep going.
If you are hungry, keep going.
If you want to taste freedom, keep going.
-Harriet Tubman
I'm tired. I've been working on this campaign for what? 11 years now? Much like the majority of you, I've walked, talked and argued to the point of exhaustion.
Today was a rough day. It started out alright; thanks for that extra hour! Everyone I spoke to on the phone at my office was asked "have you voted yet?" If the answer was no, it was responded with "Don't forget tomorrow is election day!"
At about 1pm, the time change caught up with me, along with a week with a sick kid, halloween, girl scout stuff, work, blah blah blah. I spent most of my "in between time" at work on Kos and other sites. My eyes started to blur, I started mentally pooping out. But I kept going.
I drove home (33 miles), made dinner for the family, slapped on my Obama pin and headed out to Dem HQ for my marching orders. Guess what? They were closed. Lights off, door locked-closed. Why?
I know Texas is a red state and the thought of voting for a Democrat, let alone an African American candidate, is far fetched; even laughable. However, we seem to have a nice pool of Dems here in my little part of the Rio Grande Valley.
We have Rick Noriega who we should be fighting for. Rick is trying to unseat John Cornyn, a Republican who likes to vote "Nay" on such "trivial" issues like housing reform and funding for the low income energy assistance program. I mean, sure it's hot in Texas. And our electric is deregulated. So why not gouge as many folks as you can?
Mr. Noriega served in the 143rd Infantry in Afgahnistan.Rick was elected to his 4th term in the Texas House of Representatives in November 2004, at the same time as he was serving his state and his country in the US Army, training a new Army for Afghanistan. His wife, Melissa Meisgeier Noriega, made history when she was sworn in as his temporary replacement for the 79th Legislature on January 11, 2005, and she served in his stead on the Corrections and Defense Affairs and State and Federal Relations committees.
That's just one example of another important election happening tomorrow. And we're tired. We need to keep up the good fight. Don't close your HQ doors! And if they are closed, keep fighting!
If you are tired, keep going.
If you are scared, keep going.
If you are hungry, keep going.
If you want to taste freedom, keep going.
