To be a part of this historical moment? A lot of times we can only watch as history takes place somewhere else in the country or the world. But once in a very blue moon is there an opportunity for the entire country to participate together. This is surely one of those times. So take a deep breath and begin the wait for the most historical moment that any of us have ever seen.
Most importantly, we all participated. So I must say thank you to Sen. Obama and Sen. McCain for giving us one hell of a battle and one hell of a show. This match had it all. The low blows, the high notes, the drama and the humor. And all of us had a ring-side seat. How entertaining can politics be? Well my friends I believe we have seen one of the best political battles at one of the most important times in history. Even though Sen. McCain is not my choice I must say his last week in the fight was soooooo much better than any other, so he has finished strong. Too little too late. Obama is so much like Muhammad Ali. "Float like a butterfly and sting like a bee".
The raw emotion that has been felt all around this country has divided us into the red and blue, the liberal and the conservative. Anti or Pro? But on this one day we are all Americans. That is what's so important to remember and that is what I love about this country. In a lot of places around the world people are killed trying to vote. Sure politics is tough, but one thing about this country, we are all Americans. No matter how hard the Sarah Palins, the Hannity's or the Limbaugh's try and divide us, we, the "REAL" Americans don't fall for it.
We respect each other and we respect the fact that we disagree. My son is a basketball player, and for his entire life, I taught him the American principals that were taught to me by my dad. Respect, Hard work, and Trust. That's what we believe in this country. Respect each and every one because they are no different than you on the inside. Sure we all have our feelings about things but we have so much more in common than we have as differences. Working hard and not trying to "get over" on some one. Earn your way into everything. Earn your respect, earn your degree, and earn the money that you make. The trust factor is the most important. We can't live together without trusting each other, or we would all live behind closed walls.
Lastly I want to say "Thank You" to Americans everywhere for participating and re-energizing this country like I have never seen it before. And thank you to Sen. Obama for having the courage and the vision to make a move at the "RIGHT" time. Yes this is our time as Americans and we are taking full advantage of it.
