I voted to save America from the ignorant, bigoted, do-nothing, take-everything asswads that have held our Nation hostage for the past 8 years. It felt really good!
When I pulled up to the polling place in Southwestern PA this morning I saw a friend of ours had just got her kids off to school. She lives directly across the street from the polling location and was walking back to her house with a cup of coffee in her hand.
I beeped my horn to get her attention. She looked around, saw me and smiled, came toward my car tugging at her RED sweatshirt. As I got out of my car she said with a grin...Gotta keep it RED.

I said "You've got to be kidding me?" She said no way. I said, "So you drank to Kool-aid about the Muslim, crap, not safe for America nonsense, Can't trust him BS they've been peddling?" I said "Wow." She said, "Don't do it. You'll regret it." I said, "This country needs a serious change in direction. This is history." She actually said, "Well, you got Sara Palin for that."
I did everything in my power not to laugh in her face. But we are friends, our kids play together, my wife walks for exercise with her twice a week. I just shook my head and said, "Gotta Vote!"
I got the impression through our brief encounter this morning outside the polling area that my RED friend was seeing her "Joe the Plumber" small town values being unmasked for what they really are. Small-minded values.
We see these people in our lives and we wonder, "How can these people be so stupid to fall for the right's smear tactics?" Now I know. It's not stupidity, It's not naivety, It's not even ideology so much. It's FEAR.
Plain and simple. She was afraid to see the reality of the world outside our little community. She was afraid of the possibilities. She was afraid of the idea. She was afraid of everything Bush, Cheney, McCain, Palin and Rove told her to be afraid of. I hope there are more Pennsylvania citizens out there at the polls today ready to lift that middle finger up high in the face of fear and carefully place it on the touch screen next to Obama/Biden.
Go Vote!!!!
And for some Icing on the Presidential Cake:
Since 1936, the Washington Redskins had something to do with the outcome of the presidential election. For 68 years through 17 elections you could gauge the election outcome by the game results Sunday or Monday prior to election day.
If the Redskins lost, the incumbent party inevitably lost as well. The Pittsburgh Steelers beat Washington at home last night 23-6.
Go Steelers/Obama!
