Aldermanic District 1 in The City of Stoughton, Dane County, Wisconsin. We use paper ballots with an optical scanner for vote tabulation.
It only took 10 minutes and I was #244, 1 hour and 20 minutes after the polls opened. There were 10 people in line when I got inside. Aside from the Presidential and Congressional races (Obama and Baldwin respectively) all other state and county offices on my ballot had Democrats running unopposed.
One interesting note:
On my way in to the polling place there was a person telling everyone to turn off their cell phones.
I took a few steps past then turned around and asked loudly, "Wait a minute!, WHY do I have to turn off my cell phone?"
"Because some people use them to take picutures"
"But what if some Republican thug tries to interfere with my right to vote and I want to call the ACLU?"
"Then one of the poll workers will help you make that call."
Satisfied, I proceded to go in and vote.
Challenging Authority! Made me feel young again!
It never occured to me to ask why taking pictures in a polling place was a thing to be avoided.
