I love the phrase hold the line - it conjures up images of two forces clashing in battle, but it's also literally what we have to do in these closing moments.
You're going to start getting anxious - in just a few short hours, you'll have exit polls, and in just about 3 the first 'polls will close'.
I'm here to tell you that's a total fabrication.
They news can start saying whatever they want about Indiana or Kentucky at 6:00, but those polls aren't going to close until the last person who was standing in line at that moment votes.
And guess what, folks? 'Historic turnout' is the phrase of the evening. Here, there, everywhere. Thought your duty was done when you were first in line at your precinct in VA or PA or FL? Or MD or NY or CT? We've got a margin to rack up in our home states and a battle down to the wire to carry home for our guy in the swing states. And here at the eleventh hour, moments away from victory, are you really ready to sit back and see how it plays out?
Well, you're welcome to, but you'll be forsaking your chance to put us over the top. Obama has given his heart and his soul, and we can't believe and hope idly. he tells us that in America there's never been anything false about hope, but it's never come without our sacrifice. By all reports these lines are as long as we've ever seen, and we need boots on the ground keeping people encouraged and comfortable. Because the longer the line the greater our opportunity but also the more painful the cost for the people who have to wait their turn to make their mark on history.
Fired up? Then hold that line for these last few hours before you let the networks prognosticate. Until the moment you've ushered that last man or woman through the polling place and made sure they were comfortable this race is on and YOU are the deciding factor. Vote early and help others vote often.
Hold.
The.
Line.
