But Im not down as in sad I'm down the block and getting out my vote. And it was impressive day... here's the skinny on Downtown Portsmouth.
I went down to the polls and got my vote out...!
This morning I got up to the sound of rain pattering against my window Air conditioner. It was 4 am, and I couldn't sleep. Rain is usually never good.
But when I got to the polls at 615 I was pretty impressed. Line around the block 300+ strong, and I have a pretty small precinct ... a couple of streets in the part of Portsmouth by the Naval Hospital. The line moved fast and the Starbucks built down the street brought coffee and muffins every couple of minutes. The ballots were scantron fill in the circle paper ones (P-town I found is using a lot of these in all their Polls). I think I was in and out of there in an hour.
If I have a regret it was that the guy in front of me waited until he was inside and getting ready to walk to the table when he said... I still don't know who Im going to vote for... like he wanted me to tell him... He looked upset and sheepish.
I totally wanted to say Barrack but it would have been electioneering you know so I just told him to vote his conscience.
Anyhow lots of my friends voted for the first time in their lives and some of that was because of me so I feel pretty good. I just wish he'd asked me in the line outside the polls.
Anyhow the turnout was awesome... despite the rain.
So go Obama!
