Amendment
Notes:
- MN is a same-day voter registration state.
Registered Voters as of 7AM 11-04-08: 3,200,376
Ballots cast: 2,908,720 million
Turnout: 90.89% - Candidates are listed in alphabetical order, with the incumbent in italics.
- Parties in these races: Democratic-Farmer-Labor (DFL); Republican (R); Independence (I).
MN-Sen: See Liveblog for MN-Sen 5:19AM- 1015 apart; 13 precincts to go. Auto-recount? 9:26- 726.
Polls closed at 8PM Central (9PM Eastern).
8:05 PM: No results available on the MN SOS website yet. I'm guessing that we may start seeing some results around 8:30, but no guarantees.
10:47 PM: 8 or 87 counties in MN have completed tallying their votes.
I just saw the electoral vote totals. HELL, yes we DID! *cheering*
11:14 PM: This is an amazing speech. Just amazing.
Midnight: The laptop I was using so I could be down in the living room with the TV crashed in the middle of an update - just as I was about to hit preview and post. (When else?)
MN-01: DFLer Tim Walz has held his seat with a margin of almost 2-1.
MN-02: Republican John Kline has held on to his seat, though Steve Sarvi gave him a run for it.
MN-03: It looks like Republican Erik Paulsen will take the seat of the retiring Jim Ramstad, keeping it in the R column; it's pretty tight though, and with almost 30% of the precincts still to report, Ashwin Madia might pull out a win - not likely, but it is possible.
MN-04: DFLer Betty McCollum has held her seat by more than a 2-1 margin.
MN-05: DFLer Keith Ellison, the first Muslim in Congress, has not only held his seat, but has defeated his opponent as well as all the anti-Muslim crap that was thrown at him with over 70% of the vote.
MN-06: What the hell, man??? Republican Michele Bachmann is hanging on by the skin of her teeth. This is going to be very tight, despite the fact that the district was been drawn specifically to give a Republican a HUGE advantage. That's how much she blew it with her BS; here's hoping the last 20% of the precincts give El the boost he needs, though it doesn't look good.
MN-07: DFLer Collin Peterson ran away with it, nearly 3-1.
MN-08: DFLer Jim Oberstar took this one by a 2-1 margin.
4:45 AM: Still 36 precincts to go, and voter turnout is OVER 90%!
MN-01: 100% in. Walz (D) keeps his seat with a 2-1 margin.
MN-02: 100% in. Kline (R) keeps his seat.
MN-03: 100% in. Paulsen wins; seat remains in the R column. (Ramstad regularly won this district with 70% or more of the vote. Keeping within 10% of the winner is an achievement.)
MN-04: 100% in. McCollum (D) easily keeps her seat.
MN-05: 100% in. Ellison (D) keeps his seat by a landslide.
MN-06: 100% in. That crazy $%&@# Bachmann (R) barely squeaks through to keep her seat.
MN-07: 100% in. Peterson (D) handily keeps his seat.
MN-08: 100% in. Oberstar (D) handily keeps his seat.
Amendment: PASS. The Clean Water Amendment appears to have passed.
